Iceland Tourism: Take Your Family And Double The Population
When you think of a place to visit for vacation do you think of sparsely populated countries? What about a country where there average three people per kilometer and where sixty percent of the entire population live in or around the capital city? Doesn’t sound like the kind of place you want to go for an exciting vacation? Well, think again!
Iceland is the country in Europe with the lowest population. At fewer than 300,000 people in the entire country, it is no wonder it has won this title! But the fact that there are few people living there doesn’t mean it isn’t an excellent tourist destination! There is much to see and do in Iceland.
Iceland tourism is based on the capital city and some of the other cities, but also very much on the beautiful countryside and all the natural wonders that can be viewed. It is a dream destination for nature lovers and those who like to get out in the beauty of the great outdoors and breathe in the fresh air while viewing nature’s treasures.
The capital city of Reykjavik is a must see. Obviously it is not an enormous booming metropolis like many other capital cities within Europe considering the entire country’s population is much less than most capital cities alone, but it is a beautiful city with plenty to see and do. There are museums and exhibits to lovely scenic views of nature. There is the fun nightlife so many travelers crave, as well as shopping in malls and boutiques.
Other towns and cities you can visit include Hveragaerdi, eight hours from the capital. At the center of the city is a geothermal area that is very interesting to see. Hnifsdalur is a tiny village which is bordered by Bakkahyrna Mountain. Dalir has a village called Budardalur that is on the sea coast but actually has no harbor!
Iceland tourism takes great advantage of some of the beautiful wonders of nature in the more isolated areas of the country. In Fjord Patreksfjordur, six hours outside of the capital you can see beautiful landscapes, islands, fjords, as well as mountains and valleys that will take your breath away.
Ninety percent of tourists to Iceland drive the Golden Circle. In the course of the drive you visit Thingvellir, the famous geothermal area of Iceland and also can view that Gullfoss waterfalls.
Although Iceland tourism is not the booming industry you find in some popular destinations, it is a chance to see a new country that has plenty of beautiful original natural scenes. You can experience the country and see what it a country without the busy cities and crowded highways looks like. You get a peaceful break from your everyday life and the chance to experience nature’s beauty.
